In 2023, we supported socially minded organisations with £263.8 million of lending to 162 organisations across the UK contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our total loan book grew to over £1 billion with 44.7% of lending provided to areas of high deprivation and 92% of our customers said they were satisfied or extremely satisfied with our services. In 2022 Unity had a rebrand and debuted our new look for the Impact Report. Unity’s financing in 2022 enabled customers to renovate care homes to create or improve 890 bed spaces and support 846 daycare spaces across early education and specialist education service. [read our full report here]
Following a continued streak of growth, Unity reported a 47% increase in profit before tax (compared to 2020) and a 20% growth in loans to customers (compared to 2020). More jobs were created or protected in 2021 with a total of 795 and Unity won the NACFB Patron Award for ‘Socially Responsible Lender of the Year’. [read our full report here]
2020 bought a difficult year for businesses across the UK with the impact of the covid-19 pandemic. However, Unity boasted 97% of Covid related customer applications approved and £13.5m in new lending to pharmacies across the UK. Unity also reduced 35% in paper-use by adopting online automation and celebrated our 7th year of being Fair Tax accredited. [read our full report here]
Unity in 2019 showed another strong year for growth, with £159m in loans. With 1,188 Bed spaces created and renovated, 437 people housed and 28 community facilities provided. 2019 also showed a strong year for Unity in the community, with 278 volunteer days completed across 73 organisation and £8,065.20 raised by staff in donations to good causes. 2018 showed strong lending figures, with £125.8 million in loans, supporting 16 apprenticeships, training and internships, 962 jobs created and protected, and 597 bed spaces created and renovated. [read our full report here]
In 2017 we reported high figures for Unity in the Community. With 209 volunteering days completing and 95% of our employees engaged in volunteering across 54 organisations. [read our full report here]
In 2016 our annual impact report highlighted 1,895 jobs created and protected, 15 community facilities supported, and 1,026 bed spaces created and renovated. [read our full report here]
2015 bought on a 56% in lending compared to 2014, with our key borrowing sectors being housing (27%), Community Finance (25%) and Human Health and Social Work (17%). [read our full report here]
In 2014 we increased the scope of reporting within our annual Impact Report. Now including more in-depth figures and statistics, accreditations, and good news stories from our customers.
