A message from our Chairman regarding Jim Gunner

“We are deeply saddened by the untimely loss of our esteemed, respected and very much liked colleague, Jim Gunner.

Jim became a main board Director of Unity in 2015 when Unity gained independence. Jim’s vast experience of banking and bank risk was a very considerable asset and strength as we built up Unity. Jim chaired our board risk committee and oversaw our risk control in all its forms.

For a small bank like Unity to have such a highly experienced and wise steward was a great boon. It was even greater still because of Jim’s character. His irrepressible good-humour, integrity and supportive nature made him always popular and deeply respected by everyone, even when he was saying ‘no’. Jim was an all-round good guy.

Our thoughts are with his wife Jan, his daughter Michelle and son Dan at what must be an impossibly difficult time. Jim was a most remarkable man we’ll all miss terribly.”
